“Great designs should be experienced and not seen” - Jared Spool

User Interaction Design

User Interaction design is the art of transforming complex digital interactions into intuitive, delightful experiences. Imagine seamlessly navigating an app, where every button, colour, and animation feels just right, guiding you effortlessly to what you need. That's the power of UI design—it makes technology feel like a natural extension of ourselves, creating moments of joy and simplicity in our daily digital lives. It's the art of turning pixels into experiences that not only meet our needs but also spark a sense of wonder and satisfaction.

Micro-interaction design

From hover states to error states, designing accessible interactions is key to a seamless experience online. They may not be big or flashy pieces of design but they’re crucially important. Ideally they’re hardly seen, yet they are experienced. They build confidence, they get you where you’re going without fuss, without frustration.

Meridian Design System

These small interaction designs are a small example of the interaction design components in the comprehensive Meridian Design System. They’re set up as fully interactive components in Figma to assist rapid design and prototyping, cutting down design time by 80%.

For this project, we created a wireframe prototype to test the usability of the planned new site architecture, before we refined the high-fidelity visual designs. We iterated the layout, the user flow and the in-page nav to make it seamless for the customer to complete the key stakeholder goals.

Wireframe prototypes

Once we’re happy with the underlying structure of the website, we’ll move on to visual design, including all the interaction states. It can be really useful to create a high-fidelity prototype at this stage to help key stakeholders and developers understand the intended behaviour of the website or app.
